Petition filed in IHC for making govt, foreign ministry respondents in Dr Aafia case

ISLAMABAD: Iqbal Jaffri counsel for Dr Aafia Siddiqui has filed a petition in Islamabad High Court praying the court that government of Pakistan and foreign ministry be made respondents in Dr Aafia Siddiqui case.

Foreign ministry had been made respondent under the directives of IHC chief justice. Interior ministry a day earlier had requested the court foreign ministry be made respondent as it was looking into this case.

Making government of Pakistan and foreign ministry respondents, the petitioner had taken the ground that directives be issued to both of the parties to take interest in the matter and provide the latest information expeditiously so that Dr Aafia could be brought back to Pakistan as soon as possible.

The petitioner had also mentioned in the petition that interior ministry had been informed about the details of this case which were in his knowledge.
