Flour, timber prices register upward trend in Kabul KABUL: Timber and flour prices registered an upward trend during the outgoing week in the city while the prices of other basic items remained unchanged. Sultan Ali, a timber merchant in Dasht-i-Barchi locality told Pajhwok Afghan News the price of 560 kg timber jumped from 3500 to 3700 afghanis this week. "With the advent of winter the demand for timber increased which caused the hike", he added. Khan Ali a retailer in Kart-i-Seh area said the price of 100 kg flour jumped up from 2400 to 2500 afghanis. Eng. Shafi, head of food stuff sellers association said the increase in flour price is due to 30 per cent tax imposed by Pakistan on the flour export. According to reports, Pakistani officials have taken steps to control prices in their country which included restriction and imposing taxes on export to Afghanistan. Abdul Basir, jeweler in Shahr-i-Now said the price of one gram Arabian gold was 1150 and Iranian 950 afganis, the same as during the last week. The price of liquid gas and fuel also remained unchanged as the price of one kilo liquid gas hiked between 45 to 60 afghanis. Haji Muhammad Rafi, head of Shahzada money changing market said one dollar was sold on 49.65 while 1000 Pakistani rupees were 818 afghanis. He said last week one dollar was sold on 49.70 and 1000 Pakistani rupees on 815 afghanis. |
