APDM announces resignations on Oct 02 PESHAWAR: All Parties Democratic Movement (APDM) has announced to tender resignations from the National and Provincial Assemblies on October 02, 2007. Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani will send a recommendation to the Governor NWFP, Ali Muhammad Jan Orakzai for the dissolution of assemblies on the same date. These views were expressed by the 13-member action committee of APDM here on Thursday. While briefing about the resignations Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman said that the joint opposition has unanimously decided to free the country from the shackles of the President General Pervez Musharraf. He further said that it was already decided in the APDM meeting of London that all options would be utilized in order to stop President General Pervez Musharraf from the re-election. Similarly, he said that all the opposition members will submit their resignations to their respective party leaders which would consequently be forwarded to the Speaker of the National and Provincial Assemblies. This historic step taken at the platform of APDM would yield fruitful results in the future and it would also be a show of power, Fazl said, adding that it would be milestone in restoration of democracy and elimination of the dictatorship. Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman hoped that decision of the mass resignations would halt President General Pervez Musharraf from his re-election by the incumbent assemblies. Chaudhry Nisar, Imran Khan, Abdul Haye Baloch, Mehmood Khan Achakzai, Zafar Iqbal Jhagra, Rasool Bux, Asfand Yar Wali , Qadir Magsi and leaders of several other parties were also present on the occasion. |
