Opposition, treasury senators demand quota in manpower being sent abroad for employment

ISLAMABAD: Opposition and treasury senators have demanded of the government to allocate quota of 20 seats to each senator out of the manpower being sent outside the country for employment.

The senators also voiced protest against non participation of some ministers in senate session as their adjournment motion could not be taken up due to absence of the ministers and the presiding officers deferred the consideration of these motions till Monday.

The presiding officer Khalid Ranjha regretted in the session that there is an adjournment motion about the ministry of industries and production but the minister Jahangir Tareen is not present. This attitude on his part is improper. He should have attended the proceedings.

Minister of state for parliamentary affairs Kamil Ali Agha assured that the federal minister would attend the session on Monday and give replies to the adjournment motions.

Khalid Ranjha directed that the minister should come to the house at every cost on Monday.

Opposition senators Saadia Abbasi and Safdar Abbasi had taken the stance in their adjournment motion that the federal minister had given special benefit to an auto company through reduction of taxes. It is illegal and this matter should be put to debate, they demanded.

Treasury senator Pari Gul Agha said on a point of order that provinces be allotted quota in the man power being sent to Korea like the Hajj quota so that the senators could send people of their respective constituencies abroad. Every senator should be allocated quota of 20 people. Opposition senators also supported it. However, Khalid Ranjha did not give any ruling over it.
