Aziz-Shujaat discuss strategy to further protect women rights

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and PML President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain discussed the strategy to further protect the rights of women in the country at a meeting held at the PM’s House Wednesday which was attended by PML Secretary General Syed Mushahid Hussain, Federal Minister for Information Muhammad Ali Durrani, Federal Minister for Women Development Ms. Sumaira Malik, MNA Nasrullah Khan Dreshak and Chairman Council of Islamic Ideology Dr. Khalid Masood.

The Prime Minister said that the government would remove all man-made laws and discriminatory practices that militate against the rights of the women and are violative of the spirit of Islam. The Prime Minister said that the government will take all stakeholders into confidence to ensure the smooth passage of the proposed legislation. He said that Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has been entrusted by the party that he along with the coalition partners should carry out consultations with all stakeholders on the draft Bill introduced by the party in the Parliament.

During the meeting political situation in the country, PML party matters especially its enrolment drive also came under review. Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain expressed his satisfaction over the Pakistan Muslim League’s centennial celebrations and the enthusiastic response it received throughout the country.

The Prime Minister apprised the meeting about his recent visit to Yemen and Saudi Arabia. He said that apart from consultation with the top leadership of those countries, he interacted with leading businessmen and investors and Pakistani community residing in those countries.

Earlier the parliamentarians apprised the Prime Minister of the satisfactory implementation of the development projects in their constituencies.
