"Role of UN demanded in recovery of 44 missing persons"

ISLAMABAD: Families and relatives of 44 missing persons demanded of the United Nations to play its due role for the recovery of their loved ones in the country while Government should take action against those who illegally detained them.

During the protest demonstration organized by Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs) outside the Parliament House on Saturday, families of missing persons said that government despite assurance has failed to recover their missing loved ones.

Representative of Human Rights Commission in Pakistan Asma Jhangir, Spokesperson of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Senator Farhatullah Babar, British Born Pakistani Misbah Iram, Children, father, mothers, sisters, wives, brothers and others relatives of missing persons were present on the occasion. They were holding banners and pictures of missing persons.

Addressing on the occasion, Representative of Human Right Commission in Pakistan Asma Jhangir and others speakers demanded of the government to immediately present the missing person before the court and if they were involved in any illegal activities, severe action should be taken against them.

Speakers and Asma Jhangir said that action must be taken against responsible intelligence agencies that illegally detained them (missing people).

Supreme Court of Pakistan should give order to Intelligence departments of the country and Pakistan army to recover 44 missing people including 16 from Punjab, 12 from Sindh, 10 from Balochistan and 6 from NWFP as soon as possible, they added.

They demanded of the United Nations to play its due role to recover the missing person. They vowed to continue their protest till the recovering of their loved ones.
