Naveed Qamar MNA denies violating ARD regulations Islamabad: Syed Naveed Qamar MNA has refuted press reports that he attended a diplomatic function at the Pak Embassy in contravention of ARD rules and regulations. According to ARD rules and regulations, Opposition members are not to publicly meet with members of the present regime without prior clearance from the ARD leadership. In a statement on Wednesday Syed Naveed Qamar denied that he had agreed to attend an official function at the Pak Embassy as a so called confidence building measure as speculated in a section of the press. He said that he had contacted the Pakistan Embassy with a view to obtain a visa for his daughter. As he knew the Ambassador from the days she had been first appointed Ambassador by the PPP Government, he asked her to expedite the visa as the Eid festivities had led to prolonged holidays. The PPP MNA said that he was asked to visit the Embassy residence that he did for the visa. He was however surprised to find that there was an official function taking place in the form of an Eid Milan party and therefore left the venue quickly. |
