Nawaz Sharif vacated Saroor Palace on his own will: PML-N

ISLAMABAD/LONDON: Pakistan Muslim League-N has said that the Saroor Palace provided by the Saudi government to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has been vacated on the wishes of Nawaz Sharif.

Private TV channel had reported earlier that Saudi Government had evacuated the Saroor Palace housed by former Prime Minister Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharif, which was given to him by the Saudi government when he went to exile for 10 years under a deal after President Musharraf took over the reigns of the government in 1999.

However Nawaz Sharif spokesman in London refuting the report said that Nawaz Sharif had vacated the Saroor Palace on his own will and the Saudi government had not asked him to evacuate it.

The spokesman added that Nawaz Sharif would not return to return to Saudi Arabia but to his own country Pakistan while the rest of his family including his mother would remain in Madinah with Abbas Sharif.

Nawaz Sharif who was living in exile in Saudi Arabia for the past 7 years under a deal had applied for a British visa for taking him to UK for the treatment of his son Hasan Nawaz and had left for London 9 months ago on the condition that he would not take part in any politics and would soon return to Saudi Arabia. However in defiance of the condition he has gotten an extension in UK visa and is also participating in politics which has irked the Saudi government.

Infuriated with Nawaz Sharif over his defiance the Saudi government has taken back all facilities granted to him and also evacuated the Sarwar palace. Mother of Nawaz Sharif and his other family members would now live with Nawaz’s brother Abbas Sharif at his house in Madinah, the TV channel had reported.
