Work on Fresh electoral rolls underway, says Dilshad ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan is moving towards free and fair conduct of General Election, 2007 for which the gigantic task of preparation of Fresh Electoral Rolls has been undertaken, said Kanwar Mohammad Dilshad, Secretary Election Commission here Wednesday. He observed this while talking to the Commissioner and Chief Electoral Officer (CCEO) of Independent Election Commission of Afghanistan accompanied by the IFES representatives working in Afghanistan who called on him to know about the produce of preparation of electoral rolls and conduct of elections to seek assistance for implementing the same in their country in the coming years. The delegation was briefed by the Secretary, Joint Secretary and the IT specialists of the Election Commission Secretariat. Secretary Election Commission informed the delegation that Election Commission of Pakistan is moving towards free and fair conduct of General Election, 2007 for which the gigantic task of preparation of Fresh Electoral Rolls has been undertaken. The process, according to the schedule announced by the Chief Election Commission has commented throughout the country by preparation of lists of households and the Enumerators will no distribute the relevant Forms of collecting data of eligible voters. The delegation was assured that all possible guidance would be provided by the EC as and when required. The Commissioner IEC of Afghanistan showed keen interest in the Federal Election Commission of Pakistan. The Secretary Election Commission offered the services of Federal Election Academy, Islamabad for imparting necessary training to the officers of Independent Election Commission of Pakistan. |
