While talking to Media on Sunday after chairing a high level meeting, Rehman Malik said terrorists can strike on Eid days in Sindh, Punjab Balochistan.
He apologized to public in advance in case mobile phone services had to be blocked in certain areas in case of emergency.
No negligence would be tolerated by the law enforcement and security agencies, he said.
His said his team was working 24 hours a days, he said.
The minister directed the IG and senior superintendent of police to prepare a comprehensive security and traffic plan. The security plan should cover an effective strategy to combat any incident of violence by miscreants and a rescue plan should also be in place in case of any terrorist attack, he said, adding that deployment of Rangers should also be included in the security plan.
Rangers should be deployed at sensitive places and Diplomatic Enclave should also be kept under strict vigilance and surveillance to avert any terrorist attack, he added.
As per the available intelligence of the reported target areas by the terrorists.
Earlier Rehman Malik chaired a high level meeting in Islamabad. The meeting was attended by Federal Secretary Interior, Additional Secretary Interior, Chief Commissioner, IG Islamabad, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad and reps of Law enforcement agencies. During the meeting, security situation of the country was reviewed and the measures taken by Provinces were also examined.
According to the credible information, the terrorists will use the improvise devices fitted with mobile phones and based on this information, the Provincial Governments have requested for closure of the mobile phones in few areas for a short period, the Interior Ministry said in a press release. It will be temporary suspension for few hours depending upon the available intelligence. Inconvenience caused is regretted.
