MQM activist among 3 killed in Karachi

KARACHI: Three people, including an activist of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), were killed in separate incidents of firing in Karachi, media reports said on Friday.

According to reports, unknown gunmen opened fire on a group of MQM’s workers near Chandni Chowk, killing one and injuring three others.

The dead was identified as Fazal Ahmed while those injured in the ambush were identified as Naeem, Abdullah and Assad. Injured were rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

Tension gripped the area following the incident.

Responding to the firing incident, MQM leaders Raza Haroon and Khalid Omar said terrorists were trying to destroy Karachi’s peace according to a well thought out plan. They said MQM workers are being systematically targeted.

Later, police and rangers conducted a targeted search operation in Baldia, and arrested eight suspects.

A dead body was found from Korangi. The deceased, who had been shot in the head, was identified as Zohaib.

In another incident, another young person, Muhammad Nisar, was shot dead in Malir City area.
