Hoti launches $20m rehabilitation project

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Amir Haider Khan Hoti Wednesday launched Economic Revitalization Project, worth $20 million, for rehabilitation of terrorism affected Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA.

Addressing the gathering, he said that the government has faced challenge of militancy since its inception and later on flooding 2010 has adversely affected the economy and industry of the province. He added that the government, along with cooperation from the people, has not only daringly faced the circumstances but also undertaken steps for rehabilitation of damages of infrastructure and provision of employment opportunities.

Citing situation in Swat some four years back, the Haider Hoti said that fire of extremism was lit in Swat, writ of the government was diminished, innocent people were brutally murdered and girls schools were set ablaze. But due to collaborative efforts of the government, people and Pak Army peace has been restored in Swat.

The Chief Minister also hailed the spirit and commitment of traders and business community who kept on running the wheel of economic activities in spite of untoward circumstances.

Commendable the donors efforts, he said that the donors have fully assisted Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in every hour of test and trial and effort of donors for revitalization of economic activities in flood and insurgency affected Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA, were highly commendable.

Provincial Ministers for Industry and a large number of industrialists and traders were also present on the occasion.

Afterwards the Chief Minister handed over assistance cheques of different amounts to people of affected business community.
